No matter how far Neta travels, they seem to follow him. This piece is based on an old artwork of mine and Philippine mythical creatures.
Tikbalang, also known as either a werehorse demon horse, is a half-man and a half-horse creature that resides in the mountains and forests of the Philippines. Abode beneath bridges, in bamboo clumps or banana groves, and atop Kalumpang or Balite trees. These tricksters are known to scare or lead travelers astray, looping back to an arbitrary path no matter what. To counteract their trick, one must wear their shirt inside out. Other methods are asking permission out loud to pass by, or produce minimal noise while walking through in order not to offend or disturb the tikbalang.
I hope to make a series of works based on Filipino mythical creatures.
